Classes and Seminars

The second Woodcarving and Painting Cruise sponsored by the Cherry Ridge Campgrounds of Honesdale,Pa., in co-operation with Mary Lee Cipriano ( WoodcarversCruise@AOL.com) and Dennis and Susan Thornton, set sail again for 14 days traveling to ports in the Sothern Caribbean on January 12th from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.. Everyone enjoyed the sunny days and great weather.

The students had plenty of time for various day long land excursions and beautiful beaches and countryside. This years class nearly doubled in size for the woodcarving and painting seminar aboard the Celebrity Eclipse with instructors Dennis and Susan Thornton. Dennis a nationally recognized caricature carver and member of the Caricature Carvers of America and his wife Susan also nationally recognized painting artist, continued their nautical project theme, creating a terrific Caribbean Pirate Captain specially for this cruise.

Student learned various woodcarving techniques, along with design and carving a project from beginning to end, while then learning about workplace setup, painting supplies and brush stroke work and the importance of applying acrylics to work, including direction with shading and highlighting their carvings.

The Cruise brought together repeat students along with others from all over the United States and many additional carvers from Canada. This years cruise nearly doubled in size and created a wonderful carving community abroad ship and great future friendships along with a world class vacation.
